    Sanja Momčilović has a PhD in medical sciences and is a research assistant in the Group for Neuroendocrinology of the Institute for Medical Research, University of Belgrade. She defended her thesis at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade. As part of her doctoral thesis, she investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying the tissue-specific interactions of mesenchymal stem cells with macrophages during the process of stress erythrocytopoiesis.

    Sanja is member of the The European Hematology Association, Serbian Medical Chamber, The international Bone Marrow Adiposity Society (BMAS) and the Association of Dermatovenerologists of Serbia. She is participating in the COST action PRESTO – (CA21130), which concerns the therapeutic potential of the P2X receptor. She is also a participant in bilateral scientific cooperation with the Republic of Slovenia, which deals with the development of mucoadhesive films with placental amniotic membrane homogenate for potential application in oral tissue regeneration, as well as in bilateral cooperation with the Federal Republic of Germany on the topic of the metabolic effects of bone marrow adipose tissue on multiple myeloma.

    She is currently a dermatology and venerology resident doctor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade. Sanja has many years of experience in in vivo research on various mouse models, cell isolation and culture techniques, as well as in molecular biology techniques.
